Life updates

It’s been some time since I posted anything of substance here. That is mostly because nothing of great substance is happening; life is instead just ticking over as normal, which is nice.

-It was my birthday on the 14th. Dave bought me an amazon kindle! It looks just like a book when you read it because it isn’t backlit, and it’s really lightweight and easy to hold. I am reading voraciously like I used to, and that’s a good thing! Though I’m sure my bank balance will suffer.

-I’m still learning the tarot. It’s going well but all I’m really doing at the moment is memorizing the meanings of the cards according to the book. This is taking some time, as I appear to have taken for granted the effects what years of using a totally different card system (playing cards) has on remembering meanings. Once I’m down with the basic meanings of each card, I will start reading with them properly and trying to gain a deeper understanding of them. I also have my eye on at least 2 more decks!

Finally, I have started attending a local pagan moot! So far so good, nobody is insufferably wishy-washy or crazy. I have found that I have a lot in common with several of the members despite having wildly different religious practices. I attended their Ostara ritual on the 21st which was quite nice. It was neither particularly religious or magical in nature, more a symbolic ‘pagan-lite’ type thing. Given the context of the ritual however, this actually worked for me (and I got a pretty daffodil to take home). Anything else would probably have been uncomfortable. I look forward to getting involved with the local community more, as there is something to be said about being able to speak in person with people about my practices, and for them to understand and contribute their own knowledge and experience.

Happy Birthday for the 14th! which happens to be my birthday as well, so you’re in good company *chuckle*. I wanted a Kindle too…. I got a twisted hazel tree and a HUGE sun and moon plaque instead but I love them, so I won’t complain. Probably good idea hubby didn’t get me a Kindle or he’d never get fed and the kids would disappear under a pile of toys…

Good for you going to a local moot. Unfortunately found some nut-jobs in mine, but did make some lovely sincere friends I’m keeping in touch with.

    Anyway, belated hippy burpday.

Hehe, the kindle is a bit of a life-absorber. It’s because it’s so much easier than separate books. One gets finished and without moving I can just start another!

A twisty hazel tree seems like a pretty cool present to me. :p
